Knox Middle School
March 2024
Knox Newsletter
March was a fun month. Students have been preparing for Student-led conferences and working on their portfolios. All students will present their work to parents, community members, and students from Lincoln High School on April 11th. We welcome all parents at this event. Please see the flyer below for times and details.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Week was a huge success. Our 8th grade students spent the week studying Surgical Techniques. Our 7th grade students spent the week designing Kinetic Sculptures and studying motion. Our 6th Grade students spent the week building Lunar Colonies. Students engaged in project-based learning activities and experiments all week. On Friday, March 29th, all students participated in a showcase to demonstrate and share their projects with their peers.
Attendance:
Great job to all of our students that have been working on clearing their absences during the weekend. As a reminder, End of Year activities are LOP events. Students need to clear their absences and tardies in Saturday School.
Promotion:
Reminder that all 8th grade students must be passing their classes in Power School on May 13th to participate in the Promotion Ceremony. Each student that meets the criteria will get a limited amount of tickets to bring guests to the event. We will not be selling additional tickets, as space is limited in the Lincoln Theater. In addition, the next grading period will determine LOP (Loss of Privileges) eligibility for End of the Year activities. Please remind your student to clear their absences and to get to class on time.
Please see below for some more of our awesome activities from February at Knox.

Teacher Professional Learning:
Our teachers are finalizing their Action Research Projects related to Standards-based grading and learning. Our teachers work as teams to implement strategies for student reflections on learning, goal setting, progress tracking and more. Knox is on the path to being a Level 4 certified Marzano High-Reliability School.
Knox is the only school in SDUSD that is certified as a High Reliability Level 1,2, and 3 school.
