December at Knox!
Hello Knox Families!
The month of December was a busy one at Knox! ASB helped to plan so many fun campus activities for our students and our staff. Some of the activities included: Staff v students volleyball, Knox v. MTM basketball, pajama day, Advisory competitions, and more brag tag awards.
As we move into January, 6th and 7th grade students will participate in the Butterfly Project, and all students will participate in our annual Martin Luther King March.
Reminders:
- January 14th is our annual Martin Luther King March. Students will dismiss at 1:00 pm
- The vaccine van will return to Knox on January 4th.
- If you need to pick your student up early at school call ahead.
- We have a late bus for tutoring every Tuesday. It stops at Baker and Balboa. It departs Knox at 4:35
- Minimum days are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursday only.
- Please monitor your child's social media accounts (Instagram, Snap Chat, Tik Tok). Please talk to your students about their digital footprint and cyberbullying. Here is a parent resource:
- Please talk to your students about the harmful effects of Vaping. All students participated in a school-wide Zoom assembly to learn about the harmful chemicals that are contained in e-cigarettes. Here is a resource for parents on Vaping.
Instructional Updates:
The first semester will end on January 21, 2022.
This month we will continue to celebrate students with brag tags for perfect attendance, raising their Lexile reading scores in Achieve 3000, and for our positive themes in Advisory. With the Semester coming to a close, we will also celebrate students with additional brag tags for GPA and Citizenship.
Students must complete 5 articles in Achieve 3000, every month. Please see the video on how to access Achieve 3000 in this newsletter
As part of our work in Marzano Level 3, our teachers are looking at all aspects of common assessments they are designing, as a PLC: Are the assessments reliable, valid and fair?
Our Knox SSC also voted to fund a full time Project Resource teacher for the Spring Semester. The Resource Teacher will support Tier 1 instruction as part of our Marzano instructional program.
Check out the Lincoln Cluster Newsletter for more awesome events happening in our cluster.

Knox Primetime Update
Hello PrimeTime Families,
PrimeTime is ready to ring in the new year with all of the students. This upcoming month and semester we will see some new activities that we hope the students enjoy. Among the new activities we will see gardening, STEM, and activism club. Please encourage all students to take initiative and participate in these awesome activities.
Please remind students of behavior expectations that you have for them while at school and during PrimeTime. PrimeTime staff want to provide the best possible experience for all students here at Knox and the key to having the greatest time is making sure all students understand and follow our expectations. Discussing the rules and expectations at home will provide them a chance to think about why these rules are important not only at school but in their lives outside of the campus. The PrimeTime program is here is help your student grow emotionally, mentally, and socially. Our program is more effective when students are here consistently and for as long as your time allows before and after school.
Best,
Kevin Cervantes
